A. Basic Skills for Loan Officers I - Sandy McCurdy

A follow-up to the fundamentals class, this class focuses on details of the 1003, how to avoid mortgage fraud, a survey of mortgage products and how to read and interpret the credit report. This course is a “must” for new LO’s and those wanting to get a “refresher” in the basics.

B. Current Developments in Federal and State Mortgage Laws Bill Bost

This course discusses NC licensing and predatory lending laws and recent developments related to their interpretation and enforcement; as well as an overview of developments in federal laws related to mortgage lending, including an update on predatory lending litigation and regulation, RESPA reform, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

C. Construction to Perm 101 - Becky Howell

This class covers the basics in construction to permanent lending. Information regarding the multitude of options available in this market helps brokers make informed choices in developing a construction lending program.

D. Managing Risk -Dawn Hooper

This course is designed to enable professionals in the mortgage industry to understand and apply the concept of risk layers in an automated underwriting environment. Participants will learn risk factors, discuss agency system use of risk factors and recognize the impact of risk layering.

E. Basic Skills for Loan Officers II - Becky Howell

This class is for new loan originators. It deals with the ABCs of disclosure and verification, elemental appraisal review, and the ethics of marketing. The class concludes with the most common blunders loan originators make and discusses how to avoid them.

F. Opening the Doors to Credit Scoring - Sandy McCurdy

The primary goal of this class is to help loan officers better understand credit scoring, to enable them to give their clients good advice on credit issues and help them qualify for better mortgage terms. How a credit score is derived, what impacts it and how to improve it, consumers’ rights and how to help them dispute errors, and how to protect clients from identity theft are addressed in this class.

“What Lenders, Brokers & Managing Principals Need to Know About Chapter 53, Article 19A”
This class is designed for the managing principal and branch manager of a licensed mortgage lender or broker company. The class will answer questions in regards to the Mortgage Lending Act and also focus on the specifics of company licensing, loan officer licensing, education requirements, examination checklist, and recent legislative matters. The participant will learn how to identify some of the pitfalls that may lead to license revocation and/or examination fines.
